As part of the annexM’s art programme, the exhibition of Nikos Papadopoulos entitled Particle Garden, curated by Anna Kafetsi, is presented in the Service Yard of Megaron the Athens Concert Hall. The exhibition includes large sculptural and visual art installations and sections of drawings with handmade Lokta paper, a participatory performance, an echotope and a video projection. The works are new productions, and their themes are based on rich archival and experiential material collected by the artist in 2015 during a research residency at the experimental centre for nuclear research and particle physics CERN in Geneva. The metaphor in the title of the exhibition of the concept of the garden, which is at the core of the artist’s cross-cultural and botanical research, removes the dividing lines between art and the natural sciences, sparking creative imagination and poetic reflection, as well as hybrid conversations between different communities. The Particle Garden, like another distant descendant of the Renaissance botanical garden, conveys, translates, lends a different meaning to the strange, inaccessible to the common mind, nature of the Big Bang of the universe and the Large Accelerator.
